Play is an integral part of learning and growing for a child. And a safe and accessible playground is an integral part of any public school. Playgrounds have an average lifespan of between 20-25 years. So, every year, a few of our Catholic schools must remove the ageing playsets for safety. These infrastructure projects are not part of basic educational funding. A playground can cost upwards of $350,000 and rely on the local area community to fundraise and provide volunteers. A minimum Foundation grant of $2,000 is provided to schools for playground replacement.
2019/2020 grant recipients announced on December 2, 2019.
