The Calgary Catholic Education Foundation (CCEF) is a charitable foundation established as a means to provide additional funds for enriching the educational experience of students in need within the Calgary Catholic School District. The CCEF believes each child is gifted and our hope is to provide a platform for each child to succeed today, tomorrow and after graduation.
The Calgary Catholic Education Foundation was started by community volunteers in 2009 in response to the need for external fundraising that fits within the values of our Catholic faith. The CCEF was established to ensure that Calgary Catholic schools could continue to provide our children with the best possible educational opportunities.
The foundation recognizes that public education is the mandate of the provincial government, which sets curriculum guidelines and provides basic funding. However, this basic funding does not include activities beyond the standard curriculum. In order for Calgary Catholic schools to remain competitive with other school systems, additional funds must be available to enhance our student’s learning experiences.
The foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of leaders from the Calgary community, both Catholic and non-Catholic. In order to receive support from the CCEF, schools must apply for grants. All grant applications are reviewed by the grants committee and submitted to the board of directors for final approval. .
The foundation is a registered charitable organization (charitable registration number: 82058 2294 RR0001).
Since awarding its initial grants in 2010, the Calgary Catholic Education Foundation has distributed grants totaling over $2.7 million to schools in the Calgary Catholic School District.
