Chris Genereaux presents a $12,000 donation cheque to CCEF’s Janet Lymer on behalf of ScotiaMcLeod

Chris Genereux’s journey from Notre Dame High School graduate to financial advisor and philanthropic leader reflects the heart of Catholic education: leadership, community, and service. A proud 2018 alumnus, Chris credits his time at Notre Dame for shaping the values that guide him today—discipline, compassion, and a commitment to giving back.

After earning his finance degree from the University of Calgary, Chris built a successful career as a financial advisor with ScotiaMcLeod. But success, for him, was never just about numbers. Deeply rooted in his Catholic upbringing, Chris has always prioritized mentorship and youth empowerment. Whether through coaching or community initiatives, he remains dedicated to supporting the next generation of leaders.

That dedication recently inspired Chris to spearhead a generous $12,000 donation from ScotiaMcLeod to launch the Notre Dame Athletic Future Fund, a new endowment through the Calgary Catholic Education Foundation (CCEF). This fund aims to remove financial barriers to participation in the Notre Dame football program, ensuring that student-athletes can grow through sport, teamwork, and character-building experiences—without cost being a limiting factor.

“Supporting Catholic education is about more than academics, it’s about shaping compassionate, resilient leaders who give back. I’m proud to support a school and system that gave so much to me.”

As part of the broader celebration of 140 years of Catholic education in the Calgary Catholic School District, Chris’s initiative is a powerful reminder of how alumni can impact future generations. The Notre Dame Athletic Future Fund is just beginning—and Chris invites fellow alumni and community members to join him in creating lasting opportunities for students.

The Calgary Catholic Education Foundation is a charitable foundation established in 2009 as a means to provide additional funds for enhanced learning opportunities for students. Together with our community, the Foundation supports opportunities to develop students into tomorrow’s leaders.
